2010 Challenge

The Young Composers Challenge is open to young musicians ages 13 to 18 who are U.S. residents.

The Challenge is simple. First, you can take part in a free full-day workshop with world-renowned composers. Then you will have all summer to write your own score. Finally, a panel of judges will choose the top three orchestral and top three ensemble pieces.

We had so many wonderful submissions that it was very difficult to narrow it down to the winners. Here they are (in no particular order).

Prizes

Each winning piece will be performed by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in a public concert at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center on October 10, 2010.

The top three orchestral composers will be awarded $1000 each. The top three ensemble composers will be awarded $500 each.

PLUS! Each of the six winners will receive a professional recording of their composition performed by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.
